August 9 Auction S. Jersey Lure Featuring Roger ‘Doc’ Cramer Baseball Memorabilia

doc doc4cards doc4cards1 docautograph docbaberuth docGoudy

Roger ‘Doc’ Cramer was born in Beach Haven, Long Beach Island, NJ in 1905. Folk lure tell us that by the age of eight he began to follow baseball obsessively. Later on he played baseball on the Beach Haven sandlots with family and friends and when he wasn’t playing baseball he was making the ’rounds’ with a local medical doctor, thus his nickname ‘Doc.’

In 1928 backup catcher for the Philadelphia Athletics, Cy Perkins was asked to umpire a semipro-game and, in the event he witnessed any talented players, he was instructed to let the Athletics manager know.  And that’s when it all started! In 1929 Roger ‘Doc’ Cramer began his professional baseball career playing centerfield for the Philadelphia Athletics. Due to economic difficulties the Athletics later traded Cramer to the Boston Red Sox. Cramer was voted onto the American League All-Star team in 1937, 38, 39 and 1940. In 1940 the Red Sox traded him to the Washington Senators. Cramer played one year for the Senators and was then traded to the Detroit Tigers where he eventually closed out his playing career in 1948.  He stayed involved as a coach for Detroit and then coached for the Chicago White Sox in 1951. In 1953 Roger ‘Doc’ Cramer left major league baseball and went back home to Manahawkin, NJ where he built a home for his wife and children.

Our client had the honor and privilege of knowing and often visiting Roger ‘Doc’ Cramer during his tenure as a major league baseball player.  Cramer items in the August 9th multi-estate auction are just a small part of his vast Roger ‘Doc’ Cramer collection.

Come join us on August 9th and take a chance on winning some rare baseball memorabilia items as well as a part of S. Jersey history! If you are unable to make it and are interested in phone or absentee bidding, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

August 9 Multi-Estate Summer Auction — DISNEYANA — HOARDERS ACCURAL

The August 9th auction will also offer a variety of Disneyana items. These items have been hoarded away for decades. The consignor, at one point in his business career, worked for Disney in Europe and had the pleasure of meeting Walt Disney as well as many of the artists. It’s been a difficult time for him parting with these possessions, however he’s slowly making progress and we respect his perceived need to keep them.

Therefore, I encourage you to take a look at what we’re offering to date, with the hope that more items will come in before the August 9 auction (www.legaciesoldandnew.com). Should you be unable to attend the auction, most of the items will be in our LIVE/Absentee Bid Catalog that is currently under construction.

So, here’s a sampling of DISNEYANA: Goofy as Chernabog Big Figurine never displayed, Original Pencil Sketches entitled “Santa Mickey & Minnie Fashion Concept” by artist, Alex Maher and “Chip & Dale” by artist, Doug Strayer. Disney’s Ink & Paint “The Magic of Disney” Animation. Lithographs: “Mickey & Pals Dish Up Fun at Animator’s Palate” (no. 293/350 & signed by artist), “All Mixed Up” including All Mixed Up Postcard signed by all the artists. Sericels including but not limited to: “Simba’s Spotlight,” and “Greeting the Season.” Disneyana Convention Poster signed by artist, Randy Souders; Prints by artist, Peter Emmerich, a portable Mickey Mouse Record Player, variety of Stadium Jackets, Safari Mickey Mouse & Santa Mickey Mouse Figures made of wood and signed by artist Gordon J. King, and a Tinker Bell Fairies Lantern. Also, Pin & Stamp Collections/Sets: including but not limited to: “Mickey’s Not So Scary” (2008), “Donald Duck’s 70th Anniversary,” “Pooh & Friends with Silver Medallion,” “Surf’s Up” with Pin, “Lights, Camera, Action” with Pin. Most items come with COA’s and have never been out of the original packaging.

Be sure to visit our website at http://www.legaciesoldandnew.com to view a more detailed listing and photographs of many of the items that are shown in the gallery section.
