Roseville, Fulper, Weller, Hull — Put Them All Together for a AAA Experience

AAA = AN AWESOME AUCTION!

At the request of the executor of the estate of the late Peter J. Price of Tabernacle, NJ, we will be selling the contents of his Estate as well as a private estate collection from South Jersey on Saturday, June 13 beginning with a preview at 8 a.m. Hope you’re planning to come join us at this DUAL ESTATE AUCTION! It will be held at the Eagleswood Fire Hall located at 219 Railroad Avenue in West Creek, NJ .  There you’ll discover a huge assortment of quality items to buy, and what a great opportunity this sale is for the Pottery Collector! Over fifty pieces of Roseville Pottery, plus Fulper, Lenox (Green & Gold Marks) Weller, Goebel, Hall, Hull and so much more have been consigned.

  • Roseville Pottery has been collected by many for decades. The Ohio based company was founded in 1890 and produced this exquisite pottery through 1954.   We will be offering some unusual designs during this sale. Roseville patterns currently consigned are: Apple Blossom, Baneda, Bittersweet, Bleeding Heart, Carnelian II, Cherry Blossom, Clemana, Columbine, Dawn, Donatello, Earlam, Florane, Florentine, Freesia, Fuschia, Futura, Imperial II, Iris, Ixia, Juvenile, Matte, Ming, Moderne, Moss, Mostique, Panel, Peony Pinecone, Poppy, Rozane, Rosecraft, Silhouette, Topeo, Tourmaline, Tuscany, Volpato, and Wincraft.

  • As with many porcelain companies, Lenox china marks have varied  over the years.  The oldest colored mark for Lenox is black wreath. A green wreath was used between the years of 1906 and 1930. Around 1931, the words Made in USA were added to the mark. By 1955, however, many of the Lenox china items began showing a gold wreath as its mark instead of the green one.

A large selection of both Green & Gold Mark Lenox is up for bid at this auction. Below are select pieces of Lenox with green marks.

  • Decades after William Fulper founded Fulper Pottery, he appointed Martin Stangl vice president of the company in 1924.  Also at that time the company expanded by constructing “Plant No. 2” a few blocks from the original Fulper Factory.  Plant No. 2  produced Fulper Pottery’s newly developed Fulper Fayence art and dinnerware lines. The Fulper Fayence dinnerware was America’s first open stock solid-color dinnerware. This line ultimately became Stangl Pottery, and for many years was advertised as “Stangl Pottery, made by Fulper Pottery.”
  • Throughout the 1920s Fulper Pottery Artware continued to be produced at the original factory, however by 1926, demand for the Stangl Pottery products had increased to the point that a third production facility was acquired in Trenton, New Jersey! After 1935, the company continued to be Fulper Pottery, but produced only Stangl Pottery brand dinnerware.

Select pieces of Fulper pottery are also up for bid on June 13 — photos shown below.

John Stobart, & Win Salmons — Artists Extraordinaire — This Week’s Blog

Three fine examples of an extraordinary, talented, listed,  marine painter John Stobart (1929 -) were consigned to the March 21 auction earlier this week.  Stobart would research and then painstakingly reconstruct harbor scenes and ship portraits from the nineteenth century.  His original paintings sold rather quickly to private collectors so he decided to publish limited edition prints of his art. This decision would enable others the opportunity to own and admire these scenes of the by gone era.  We are pleased to offer the following lithographs at auction:

  • Dreadnought (254/850) Signed by Stobart
  • New York The Foot of South Street in 1876 (425/750) Signed by Stobart
  • St. Mary Approaching Cape Horn

All prints are professionally matted and framed.  Ready for you to hang on your wall!

Also on the auction block of Stobart’s is his hard covered book entitled “STOBART The Rediscovery of America’s Maritime Heritage” published by Dutton showcasing over sixty of his paintings in full color.

Further information on John Stobart can be found at the following link: http://www.stobart.com/profile.html We are also selling a pastel painting by South Jersey artist, Winifred (Win) Salmons. An accomplished artist, Win started painting when he was 75 years old.

Exquisite Birds of Boehm — This Week’s Blog

So the ground hog saw his shadow — six more weeks of winter, but only seven weeks until our early spring auction!  And we need every minute of every day to get ready for this event!

We are so pleased to announce that we will have three exquisite Boehm porcelain birds on the auction block in the March 21 auction.

The Boehm studio was founded by Edward Marshall Boehm (pronounced Beam) in 1950 in Trenton, NJ. Since the beginning, artisans from the Boehm Studio took painstaking efforts to recreate the beauty of nature in these fine porcelain figurines.

We are showcasing three of these exquisite porcelain birds in this auction.  Each sculpture is in perfect condition:

  • Boehm Brown Pelican (limited to 100/closed)
  • Boehm Least Tern (limited to 350/closed)
  • Boehm Arctic Tern (limited to 350)

Many of Boehm’s fine, hand made and hand painted sculptures are represented at the White House, presidential libraries, and the Vatican. It’s believed that President Richard Nixon, during his 1972 visit to the People’s Republic of China, presented Premier Zhou En Lai with a Boehm Porcelain Pelican. The Pelican was from the same mold of the Brown Pelican that we are offering at our auction. Now you too have the opportunity to own one, two or all three of these Birds of Boehm.

We will continue to update you with our finds so keep following and liking our blogs, and be sure to watch for our announcement on the availability of the Live Absentee Bid Catalog.

If you are considering consigning to our sale, please don’t hesitate to contact us.  There’s no fee for us to come out and preview items you wish to sell and you’re under no obligation.  Don’t delay.
